Oklahoma corrections officers don’t get many financial rewards for doing a tough job under dangerous conditions so it’s heartening to see two of the finest and the bravest, Sgt. Larry Henson and Capt. Josh Lee of the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center, receive national recognition for saving the life of a female employee who was taken hostage last year by an inmate. Nominated by Department of Corrections Director Robert Patton, Henson and Lee received the Medal of Valor from the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents at a banquet earlier this month in Indianapolis. The association awards its highest honor to individuals who have distinguished themselves with a deed of personal bravery or self-sacrifice that involved the risk of life. Read More. |
