Injured N.J. prison inmate airlifted to hospital, official says |

MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP — A Bayside State Prison inmate found injured in his cell on Saturday night was flown to a medical facility for treatment, an official said. New Jersey Department of Corrections spokesman Matt Schuman said the inmate was found just before 10 p.m. on Saturday with a head injury. Schuman said the inmate was bleeding. The inmate was taken by helicopter to a medical facility and admitted for treatment, Schuman said. The cause of the inmate's injury and his current condition were not immediately available.
