UPDATE: Wild horses placed in temporary home with Department of the Corrections |

CANON CITY, Colo. - Horses from the West Douglas herd area rounded up two weeks ago are adjusting to life at their temporary home at the Department of Corrections in Canon City. The Bureau of Land Management works with the DOC to keep wild horses picked up during gathers on its property. Inmates will train horses under 5 years old and put them up for adoption. The DOC can host 3,000 horses on its property. With the latest addition of 167 horses from the West Douglas Herd Area, it's up to 2,200 animals. Read More. |
