FREELAND, MI — A 65-year-old prisoner was taken to the hospital with an eye injury after his cellmate allegedly attacked him with a padlock at a Saginaw County prison, a prison official reports. The prisoner was injured about 8:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Saginaw Regional Correctional Facility, 9625 Pierce, in Freeland, Chris Gautz of the Michigan Department of Corrections said. The state facility sits among farm fields and in the area of the MBS International Airport, northwest of Saginaw. "Two prisoners were in a cell and one allegedly hit the other with a lock, striking the other prisoner in the eye," Gautz said. The victim was transported to a Saginaw hospital for treatment, Gautz said, noting he was "up and talking" while leaving the facility. Read More. |
