Authorities still searching for missing Ely inmate

Authorities are still searching for an inmate who “walked away” from the Ely Conservation Camp over the weekend, according to a spokesman for the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Courtland Kimble, 25, was serving 24 to 72 months for robbery and use of a deadly weapon convictions, Brian Connett, NDOC public information officer, said in an email on Monday.

"They're camps and they're always minimum security inmates," Connett said in a phone interview on Tuesday. "(The camp) is secure on the inside, and these guys go work, and they're on fire crews or they work all over the place."

The camp has a 6 foot to 8 foot fence surrounding it, but had no barbed wire at the top. The site includes a work out track that sits outside of the fence, Connett said. "
