Prison report fails to identify Tennessee's needs |

We’re still in the dark about what is really wrong in our prisons. Wednesday, representatives from the American Correctional Association delivered the results from what can only be categorized as a cursory audit of prisons run by the Tennessee Department of Correction to the Senate State and Local Government Committee. The “audit” only points out that we need to dig deeper into what should be done about our Department of Correction and the prisons it manages. The report says, essentially, the work schedule and report classification need some tweaking, and, if tweaked as recommended, the ills of the state’s prisons will go away. Richard Stalder, formerly the head of the Louisiana prison system and one of the three reviewers who visited five facilities, delivered the recommendations. Read More. |
