| Inmate serving 50 year murder sentence dies in hospice care |

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - An inmate serving a 50 year sentence for second-degree murder has died in a Coralville prison. The Iowa Department of Corrections announced Wednesday that 42-year-old Matthew John Irving died of natural causes. Officials say he collapsed to the floor in a hospice care unit while being assisted from a bathroom to a bed. He was pronounced dead by a physician on duty. He had previously been diagnosed with cancer that spread to his lungs and bones. Irving was assigned to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center. Read More. |
