Updated 8:25 p.m.: Both minimum-security inmates who walked away from their respective work crews Tuesday in Salem have been apprehended, troopers said. William McGinnis, a 30-year-old inmate at Salem's Mill Creek Correctional Facility, was arrested near an Applebee's restaurant early Thursday evening, the Oregon State Police said in a news release. He was caught after a 9-1-1 caller identified him at a nearby McDonald's restaurant because of his neck tattoo, troopers said. The caller told authorities that McGinnis left the McDonald's and entered the Applebee's. Authorities showed up at the restaurant, and McGinnis tried to leave through its kitchen, went out a back door and was apprehended without incident. Read More. |
