San Jose: Ameriprise hosts art exhibit by Elmwood inmates |

The list of art supplies that can't be brought into the Elmwood Correctional Facility is a long one, but the folks who run the Elmwood Art and Spirit Ministry have figured out how to make due. The art that the ministry has helped Elmwood's inmates create runs the gamut from tapestries and quilts to masks and origami, a range that's all the more impressive given the limited resources they're allowed. "They can't use scissors; they have to tear everything by hand," says Amanda Langworthy, who curates the art exhibits that hang in the downtown San Jose offices of Ameriprise Financial. Read More. |
