| Coroner: Lieber inmate strangled to death |

An inmate who died in his cell at Lieber Correctional Institution this month was strangled, according to a press release Dorchester County Coroner Alice Durr issued late Saturday. The release said Ryan Mansfield, 24, died from asphyxiation due to strangulation. The victim died just before 2 a.m. Thursday after a fight with his cellmate, Michael Jerome Brice, 34, according to the South Carolina Department of Corrections. The two engaged in an altercation overnight, resulting in Mansfield’s death, authorities said. Read More. |
