Correctional officers assaulted by PCC inmates |

Six Illinois Department of Corrections staff members were assaulted by five inmates at the Pontiac Correctional Center Sunday, IDOC officials said, leading to a lockdown of the facility. Illinois Department of Corrections Nicole Wilson said the assault at the PCC appears to have resulted from a failure to follow workplace safety procedures. Wilson said that the staff members were treated for non-life threatening injuries after the assault. She said that information regarding the circumstance or nature of the incident could not yet be released when asked for comment Monday. “IDOC is investigating the incident and cannot release any further details at this time,” she said.
