Prisoners use contraband cellphones to broadcast on Periscope, ask for money |

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Prisoners in one of Alabama's maximum-security prisons are using illegal cellphones smuggled in to cell blocks to broadcast live on Periscope up to five times a day. If an inmate is caught with a cellphone they can face an extra felony charge just for having it, but that's not stopping these inmates broadcasting live on smartphones from their cell blocks. Over a period of 48 hours last week, we watched at least a dozen broadcasts from two different inmates inside Holman's A block, and they didn’t seem to be worried about being spotted by guards or followers watching these broadcasts.
