LINCOLN — State legislative leaders said that a computer upgrade announced Wednesday to more accurately calculate release dates of prison inmates was long overdue. On Saturday, a new software system will go online that Corrections Department officials believe will eliminate the chances of a repeat of a scandal uncovered in 2014 that resulted in the mistaken, early release of hundreds of inmates.
