| Prisoner from North Charleston killed in McCormick Correctional stabbing |

The S.C. Department of Corrections is investigating the fatal stabbing of an inmate from North Charleston at McCormick Correctional Institution. Michael Lorenzo Jones, 43, was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, said Dexter Lee, a spokesman for the department. The stabbing happened around 4:45 p.m. inside a housing unit at the high-security prison. The incident remains under investigation and no further information, including the name of the inmate who stabbed Jones, was available Tuesday afternoon, Lee said. Read More. |
