State inmate Jerry Lynn Hilburn, who escaped from the J.O. Davis Correctional Facility in Atmore around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, enjoyed an almost four-day taste of freedom before he found himself back behind bars.

Hilburn, 40, was recaptured at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, in Lincoln, Alabama, according to Alabama Department of Corrections officials, who said an anonymous tip led U.S. Marshals to an address in Lincoln, where Hilburn was found hiding in a storage shed behind a resident’s home.

Hilburn reportedly ran from the federal lawmen, but was apprehended after a brief chase and taken to the Talladega County Jail to await his return to the custody of corrections officials.
