St. George man's prison death leads to murder charge |

A Salt Lake City area man has been charged with aggravated murder in the August death of a St. George resident at the Utah state prison. Julio Cesar Garza, 26, is being held on $500,000 cash-only bail at Utah’s Gunnison facility while he continues serving a sentence for armed robbery in a November 2009 carjacking incident. He is accused of killing his cellmate, Carlos-Adrian Javier Hernandez, in an attack less than 24 hours after the two were put in the same unit together. Hernandez, 24, was serving a 15 years-to-life sentence, plus five years, for strangling his 15-year-old neighbor during a rape at Dixie Downs Park in January 2007, when Hernandez was 14 years old.
