Bill plans to provide pay raises for corrections officers |

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma state Senator has authored a bill that would provide a pay raise to Department of Corrections employees. Sen. Roger Thompson has proposed Senate Bill 150, which would provide a 5 percent pay raise across the board for DOC employees. The senator calls the legislation a huge step forward. "I want the DOC people to know, from the lady or gentleman who's answering the switchboard to the most dangerous jobs, we appreciate what you're doing," Thompson said. Even though correction officers work in a dangerous environment, they make less than $26,000 per year, which is less than $13 per hour.
