Inmate in St. Louis County Jail dies

A man being held in the St. Louis County Jail was found dead in his cell Monday, and authorities are now investigating.

The 50-year-old man from Ely was found collapsed and unresponsive about 1:45 p.m. by a corrections officer making rounds at the jail in Virginia, said Sgt. Steve Borchers.

Efforts by medical personnel to revive the man were unsuccessful, he said.
