Bible used to smuggle drugs into Mississippi jail, sheriff says

A Mississippi woman was arrested after authorities say she hid drugs in a Bible in an attempt to smuggle them into a county jail, according to The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo.

Authorities told the Journal that Courtney Ford, 30, hid methamphetamine in the binding of a Bible and dropped it off at the Lee County Jail for an inmate.

"We search every item that is brought into the jail, and the property officer noticed something wrong. There was a bulge in the back cover of the Bible," Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson told the Journal. "We cut it open and found a powdery substance."
