HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - An escaped inmate from the Caledonia Correctional Institution has been captured in Rocky Mount and taken back into custody. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety says that the Prison Emergency Response Team and local law enforcement apprehended Clayton Campbell without incident just after midnight on Friday. DPS says Campbell escaped from his outdoor work assignment on Thursday afternoon. He was last seen in Whitakers around 2:30pm Thursday. Read More. |
