A Somerset man was arrested Monday night after he failed to return to the Somerset County Jail from a work-release program because he’d gone to a hospital emergency room, police said. Chad L. Halle, 30, had been on work release from the jail and was due to return at 5:15 p.m. Monday. He’d been sentenced in January to 3 to 12 months in jail as a result of violating the terms of his probation for two theft cases from 2016 and 2017, according to online court records. Police were notified when Halle hadn’t returned as of 6:30 p.m., and at about 10 p.m. they got a tip via Facebook Messenger that Halle was at the Emergency Department of Somerset Hospital, said Somerset Police Chief Randy Cox. They arrested him as soon as he was discharged at about 11:30 p.m. and will charge him with escape, Cox said. Read More. |
