| 20-inmate melee, stabbing, more fights leave Auburn prison on lockdown for days |

AUBURN, NY - One inmate was slashed and another inmate stabbed in the head and neck in a series of inmate fights at Auburn Correctional Facility last week, union officials said. The fights and other incidents have left the prison on lock down for days, union officials said. The incidents started Wednesday, when two inmates were fighting in the recreational yard, and one was slashed, said Joe Miano, western regional vice president for he New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association. Later on Wednesday, a 20-inmate fight broke out followed by several other fights, with an inmate was stabbed in the head and neck, Miano said. Read More. |
