| Inmate dies in custody at Upstate detention center, police say |

An inmate at an Upstate detention center died Tuesday while in custody, according to a release from police. Lt. Patrick Fortenberry with the Greer Police Department said Greenville County EMS was called to the Greer Detention Center around 2:55 a.m. about an "inmate in medical duress." The inmate was pronounced dead by EMS workers and the coroner was called, Fortenberry said. Read More. |
