Escaped inmate in McAlester considered armed and dangerous

MCALESTER, Okla. — Oklahoma Department of Corrections authorities are searching for a inmate who they say walked early Wednesday morning from a minimum-security prison.

Officials said Kenneth Laws, 39, went missing around 3:15 a.m. from Jackie Brannon Correctional Center. Staff said Laws did not show up for work at the prison's kitchen.

Laws is serving a five-year sentence for eluding a police officer. He will likely face additional charges after this incident, and moved to a higher-security prison, officials said.
