California Health Care Facility Investigating Attack on Officers as Attempted Homicide

STOCKTON – Officials at California Health Care Facility (CHCF) are investigating an inmate attack on two correctional officers as attempted homicide.

On Friday, Nov. 15, at approximately 12:40 p.m. an inmate attacked staff in a housing unit on Facility C. Officers used physical force to stop the violence.

Two officers were transported to area hospitals. Both sustained lacerations, were treated and released and are recovering at their homes. Peer support is being offered to staff.

An inmate-manufactured weapon was recovered at the scene and CHCF’s Investigative Services Unit has launched an investigation into the incident. Inmate movement on Facility C has been limited to facilitate the investigation.

The inmate involved, Francisco Gutierrez Jr., sustained minor injuries and was treated at the institution. He is being transported to another institution and will be rehoused in an administrative segregation unit.

Gutierrez, 31, was received on September 27, 2013 from Los Angeles County to serve a life with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder as a second striker, intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury/death, and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon with a street gang enhancement. Gutierrez received an additional four-year prison sentence from Kern County on July 9, 2018, for possession/manufacture of a deadly weapon by a prisoner while incarcerated in a California state prison.

CHCF provides medical and mental health care to inmates who have the most severe and long-term needs. Opened in 2013, CHCF also provides inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment, has a diagnostic center, a dental clinic, a dialysis unit and provides services to inmate-patients needing or recovering from surgery. The facility also has a palliative care unit and recently opened a memory care unit for inmate-patients with dementia. The Stockton facility houses nearly 2,700 inmates and employs approximately 4,000 people.

The California Health Care Facility is doing a lot of decent work recently, and I hope they continue to do that in the future, too. I got to know about Prickly pear oil from them, and it's because of this oil, my health has become so better now.

This is one of the best facility to work on things like aronia berry. I guess that with time, people will know more about it and will love to work with everyone who is involved in it. This is what we need to understand.
