Now you can

yet another interesting credential: a prison record.
As Department
of Corrections Director Terry Stewart explained 'Inmate Datasearch' to
reporters recently, Jennifer Martinez punched up the name of Beau Greene
on a giant computer screen. The new search feature at adcprisoninfo.az.gov
indicated that Greene is on death row.
'Beau Greene
is the man who murdered my father,' Martinez said. 'This is a fabulous
step forward for victims. There is a real need to know as much as you can.
'Partly, I
want to know that he is not having a pleasant time at the Department of
Corrections.'
Besides the
fact that Greene was convicted of murder in Pima County in 1996, the computer
shows that he was accused of a dozen rule violations at the Florence Prison.
The new database
on 112,000 Arizona inmates dating from 1985 includes aliases, prison location,
birth dates and release dates revised weekly. Stewart called it the most
comprehensive public inmate database in the United States.
'This information
is really contraband inside the prison, but it's public information on
the outside,' Stewart said.
State law
forbids inmate access to the Internet.
