Inmate Indicted in Jail Psychiatrist's Death

An inmate has been charged with murder after he allegedly strangled a psychiatrist during a Florida jailhouse evaluation session last month.
Rodrigus Patten, 20, was charged with murder after being accused of attacking Dr. David Hoyer, 56, while the two were alone in an interview room at the Collier County, Fla., jail on Jan. 3.
Patten had been behind bars awaiting a hearing on charges that included carjacking, kidnapping and robbery. Authorities said that there were no officers nearby during Patten's mental health evaluation and that the prisoner had not been handcuffed.
After the attack, they said, Patten alerted the officers and told them he thought Hoyer had suffered a heart attack. Paramedics took Hoyer to a hospital and were able to resuscitate him, but he died three days later.

A wrongful death is a claim against a third party that is brought in a civil lawsuit for money damages. There are many state statutes that provide for the people who can bring those actions and what damages that those people can obtain. When a family member dies because of another person, it is a scary. It can be hard to make decisions. If you have a Waco wrongful death, then you should call Dunnam & Dunnam. They have answers. They are compassionate and experienced fatal accident lawyer that can help you understand the laws and provide free case evaluations.
