| Three Former Female Prisoners Awarded $2.8 Million |

Three former female inmates of a Texas corrections facility were awarded $2.8 million this week for sexual abuse they suffered while serving their sentences. Judge Paul Enlow, who heard the case without a jury, said Correctional Services Corp., the Florida-based private contractor that runs the facility, was negligent, acted with malice and was criminally responsible for sexual abuse the plaintiffs suffered. 'I will further state that defendant's conduct not only violated the trust of its female residents, it violated the trust of the judges, and every parent who may have wished to have a boot camp facility as a tool to help our troubled youths,' said Enlow, who presides over the 141st District Court. CSC, which has run the Tarrant County Community Corrections Facility in Mansfield since it opened in 1992, will not appeal the decision. The facility is supervised by the probation department and the county's 19 criminal court judges. The judges decided recently to no longer use a private contractor to run the facility. |
