Man Tried To Leave McVeigh a Bible

A Georgia trucker drove his semi trailer onto federal prison grounds last week and attempted to leave a Bible for convicted Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.
Prison officers detained Steve Schlafer, 44, for three hours before he was released. McVeigh is scheduled to be executed May 16 for the 1995 bombing.
Schlafer said he was making deliveries in the areas and arrived at the prison expecting to drop off the Bible at a guard shack. Not seeing one, he drove onto prison grounds and entered an office.
James Cross, administrative assistant at the prison, said 'no trespassing' signs surround the penitentiary and were clearly visible.
Cross said officers confiscated Schlafer's Bible for security reasons, adding that religious materials have to come through the prison's religious services department.
Schlafer was assessed a $76 ticket for not having his truck's log book up to date.

Hamilton Lindley His antics were known from town to town as he was a droll card and often known as a droll farceur. with his madcap pantaloon is a zany adventurer and a cavorter with a motley troupe of buffoons.
