Federal prisoner moved to New York City for questioning

A federal prisoner was moved from a Batavia holding facility to a New York City jail over the weekend for questioning about last week's terrorist attacks, authorities said.
The prisoner's name, nationality and possible connection to the airline hijackings and crashes at the Pentagon and World Trade Center were not released.
The transfer from the Buffalo Detention Facility took place under strict secrecy and extreme security, The Buffalo News reported Tuesday.
'Apparently, there was a very high level of concern to make that (move) happen,' said U.S. Rep. Thomas Reynolds, who spoke to reporters after a briefing Monday at the Buffalo FBI Headquarters.
Reynolds, R-N.Y., said he learned of the prisoner's transfer on Monday but does not know how significant the prisoner might be in the terrorist investigation.
About 450 federal prisoners mostly illegal aliens are held in the Batavia facility, about 30 miles east of Buffalo.
Special Agent Peter Ahearn, who heads the Buffalo FBI office, declined to comment on the prisoner. So did M. Frances Holmes, who oversees the Batavia facility as Buffalo district director of the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service.
'We can't comment on anything like that,' Holmes told the newspaper. 'We can't confirm. We can't deny.'
Ahearn would only say that immigration and customs agents have detained a number of illegal aliens in the past week, and that every possible connection to the terrorists is being closely examined.
