MTC Officially Takes Over Operation of the Marshall County Correctional Facility
|By Management & Training Corporation (MTC)|
Management & Training Corporation (MTC) will take over operation of the Marshall County Correctional Facility in Holly Springs, MS, on Monday, August 13, 2012.
“We are staffed and ready to make the transition,” said Warden Tim Outlaw. “We were successful in recruiting qualified people from Holly Springs and surrounding communities. We trained and hired more than 30 new employees, each of whom has gone through a three-week, intense training course which covered all aspects of safely operating a correctional facility. This is the same training correctional officers receive at a facility operated by the state of Mississippi.”
Training included: Security procedures, critical incident management, count procedures, self defense, first aid, examination of offender populations, offender rights, responsibilities, and legal issues, and medical services.
The Marshall County Correctional Facility has the capacity to serve 1,000 inmates. MTC was also awarded two other contracts with the Mississippi Department of Corrections: The Walnut Grove Correctional Center in Walnut Grove and the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian. All three contracts are now effective.
Warden Outlaw added, “We look forward to becoming a valued member of the Holly Springs community. Our staff will be involved in service projects and events that matter to those of us who work and live in northern Mississippi.”
MTC operates 22 correctional facilities in eight states. It is also the largest operator of the federal Job Corps program.
