Spectrum's President and CEO Recognized by the National Council for Behavioral Health for Visionary Leadership

The National Council for Behavioral Health recently announced that Spectrum's President and CEO Charles "Chuck" Faris will receive an Impact Award for Visionary Leadership at its 2015 Awards of Excellence Ceremony on April 21st in Orlando, Florida. The National Council is the leading behavioral health membership organization in the U.S. representing more than 2,200 treatment providers across the country.

The Impact Awards for Visionary Leadership recognize those leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership in behavioral health, who improve the lives of individuals with addictions and mental illness and who help these individuals live full lives in their communities. Chuck is just one of two Visionary Leadership award recipients in the country.

"The Awards of Excellence honorees are our heroes. They have turned private pain into public passion, focused on people's gifts and abilities, and blended business sense and common sense into community-based solutions," stated Linda Rosenberg, National Council President and CEO.

According to Chuck's nomination, Chuck has been instrumental in the company's evolution from a single long-term residential program to a national organization with a presence in seven states from coast-to-coast. "Chuck set the foundation for many, many people to reach their potential and succeed in their personal and professional lives," wrote Mary Charmchi, Director of Admissions, Holy Trinity Rehabilitation and Nursing.

"He has never forgotten his roots, which has led to a route of surpassing the traditional continuum of care to a renowned national array of service delivery inclusive of criminal justice and recovery support," stated Maryanne Frangules, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR).

Later this year, Spectrum will open a new, state-of-the-art inpatient facility on the company's treatment campus in Westborough, Massachusetts. The 40,000 square-foot, 100-bed facility will replace Spectrum's existing residential program building, which dates back to the early 1900s. In many ways, this project is the culmination of Chuck's many years of putting people first. According to Brian Garrity, Spectrum Board member and former Board Chairman, "The construction and opening of the new facility will be a testament to Chuck's perseverance, dedication and foresight."

An independent panel selected the honorees from a large pool of qualified applicants. As part of the award, all honorees are invited to select a nonprofit organization to receive a grant of $10,000 on their behalf.
