Article: 5 January 2005: Elmo-Tech Ltd., a global provider of leading electronic monitoring technologies for the corrections industry, today announces an agreement with Securicor-EMS, a US subsidiary of Group 4 Securicor, to provide home detention systems to the Department of Corrections of a major US State. This agreement marks a first cooperative effort between Elmo-Tech and Securicor EMS, the second of three national monitoring service providers in the US to use Elmo-Tech's equipment. "Having previously used Elmo-Tech's products internationally we are pleased to introduce the equipment into the portfolio of solutions we can offer to our customers in the USA" said Fiona Walters, CEO of Securicor EMS. The new program set by the State's Department of Corrections will provide parole officers with an intermediate sanction to enforce on parole violators. This is part of a broader strategic shift in parole policy announced there during 2004, aimed at saving taxpayers dollars while maintaining high public safety standards. It is estimated that as many as 8,000 parolees could be electronically monitored rather than be sent back to prison at a net savings of $111 million a year. Elmo-Tech's President, Yoav Reisman said, "We are pleased with the selection of Elmo-Tech's equipment as the technology backbone for this new state level programme. He added: "Equally important, our newly established relationship with Securicor EMS broadens our reach into the US market through an additional national level service provider." contact@elmotech.com |
