Article: Diaphonics announced today that it has been selected by the State of Maine Department of Corrections (DOC) to provide a biometric voice verification and call recording system, in partnership with xwave, an Aliant Company. The system will be based on Diaphonics' Spike Server voice security platform. Spike Server will provide enhanced authentication and recording capability for the monitoring of inmate telephone calls, and will be integrated with xwave's Corrections Information System (CORIS). CORIS, which xwave has deployed with Maine DOC, is an integrated, web-based offender management system that supports information needs for incarcerated offenders as well as offenders under community supervision. “We needed a solution that would give us both call recording and an effective means of verifying callers. With Spike Server, Diaphonics gives us both of these capabilities on a single platform,” said Dave Packard, Agency Technology Officer for the Maine DOC. The system will feature verification and monitoring for inmate telephone calls. Prior to placing a call, the inmate's identity will be confirmed with biometric voice verification. Voice verification works by having the caller provide a short voice sample, which is then matched against a previous voice sample from that caller to confirm identity. Once the inmate's identity is confirmed, Spike Server will allow an outbound call to proceed, in accordance with the inmate's calling privileges, which are administered through CORIS. Spike Server will also record calls when appropriate, and make these recordings available for playback to authorized officials. “When we looked for vendors that could help us meet Maine DOC's inmate calling requirements, it became apparent that, with Spike Server, Diaphonics offered the most complete solution for voice verification biometrics as well as call recording, within a single integrated platform,” said BJ Carter, US Regional Director, xwave. “Diaphonics has strong expertise in telephone-based security solutions and we look forward to working with them on this important project.” According to Andy Osburn, President and CEO of Diaphonics, the integration of Spike Server with xwave's CORIS provides a uniquely powerful solution for inmate calling. “Leveraging a common Microsoft .NET framework, the integration of our products will allow enhanced control and security, in an automated environment. Maine DOC will have a seamless solution for controlling and tracking inmate calls,” said Osburn. About Diaphonics About xwave Media contact |
