BEGA schoolgirl killer Lindsay Beckett has been moved to another jail from maximum-security Port Phillip Prison after love letters from a former female security guard were found in his cell. The woman, who has since joined the Australian Defence Force, had quit full-time work at Port Phillip Prison before the intimate letters were found. Beckett, 35, was moved last year after prison management discovered evidence of an improper relationship forming between the pair, although it is believed they found no proof of a sexual relationship. But several prison sources have told The Age they were aware of a sexual liaison between the woman and Beckett. Beckett is serving a life term with a recommended 35-year minimum for the murder of Bega schoolgirls Lauren Barry and Nichole Collins. Beckett and Leslie Camilleri abducted the teenagers in October 1997 while they were camping with friends near their homes in Bega, NSW. They drove the girls around for hours, and raped them repeatedly, before driving them into Victoria and murdering them. Read More. |
