A nationwide manhunt was launched, while Prime Minister Michael Somare stripped Correctional Services Minister Tony Aimo of his portfolio and sacked prison commissioner Richard Sikani over the mass breakout. Kapris was wanted for a string of dramatic armed bank robberies and the hijacking of a plane that was ferrying cash. He was arrested at a budget hotel on the edge of Port Moresby yesterday. The police were tipped off -- Bank of South Pacific had offered a reward for key information -- that he was going to visit a trade store near Gordon market.
