Bergen County (N.J.) Jail officials are red-faced after an inmate escaped by switching identification bracelets with another inmate. Lina Bravo remains a fugitive. Officials say they don't know why Delsy Correa would agree to give up freedom after her husband had bailed her out Wednesday night. Correa is held on $25,000 bail, charged with aiding an escape. Jail officials say the women look alike and that Correa provided Bravo with personal information so Bravo could correctly answer those questions to get released. Jail officials say they'll begin using thumbprints to verify identities. Sheriff Joel Trella also ordered an iris scan machine. Bravo was arrested on a federal warrant for failing to meet the conditions of probation stemming from a drug charge in Puerto Rico. |
