| Trafficking Charges Against Guard |

The Indiana State Prison in Michigan City is reporting that a correctional officer has been arrested on a charge of trafficking. According to a statement released on Tuesday, earlier in the day, at 5:15 a.m., correctional officer Dawn L. Walker was being searched prior to entering the facility when staff found contraband wrapped and hidden in what appeared to be oatmeal. Walker was detained until the arrival of Indiana State Police troopers, who transported Walker to LaPorte County Jail on a charge of trafficking with an offender, a Class C felony punishable by a term of two to eight years. Walker started working at the Indiana State Prison in June 2004 and resides in LaPorte County. Read More. |
