DEDHAM, MA, Sept. 8, 2010 – Norfolk County Sheriff Michael G. Bellotti recently congratulated three correction officers for taking the American Jail Association’s Certified Jail Officer test. The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office already has the highest number of AJA-certified officers in the nation. That number would rise to 34 if all three of the latest round of officers receive their certification this fall. “By completing this national certification process, these officers demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards that have been developed in the field of corrections,” Sheriff Bellotti said. “Ever since I was elected to this office 12 years ago, we have emphasized professionalism up and down the ranks of our staff. I’m grateful that our correction officers have embraced this commitment to excellence. Ultimately, the winners are the residents of Norfolk County,” Sheriff Bellotti said. The professional certification coincides with the Norfolk County Correctional Center being one of only 78 correctional facilities in the nation that is accredited by both the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. |
