Man Sentenced For Hurting Infant |

A Tavares man will spend nearly seven years in prison for hurting an infant. Robert Patrick Young said he would put the infant in pain in numerous ways because he said the only way the child would sleep is if he agitated her. Young was sentenced Monday by Circuit Judge Michael Singletary to 83 months in the Department of Corrections a charge of aggravated child abuse, court records show. Last March, Lake County sheriff's investigators said Young, 23, confessed to hurting a 2-month-old infant after X-rays taken at Leesburg Regional Medical Center showed she had suffered multiple rib fractures. According to an arrest affidavit, Young also admitted that he frequently squeezed the child's chest with his hands, bent her fingers backward and her wrist downward and pinched her toes and fingers until she cried.
