Prison Pet Partnership is important to wider community

The Prison Pet Partnership congratulates the Gig Harbor Rotary Club on their successful event, Taste of Gig Harbor. We commend the work that Rotarians do as mentors to women at Washington Corrections Center for Women and for the continued support of our organization.

I want to point out a correction to the article that appeared in last week’s paper. The photo caption mentioned that Dierdre Reyes is the first recipient of Rotary’s Prison Pet Partnership Scholarship Fund. The scholarship awarded to Ms. Reyes is not connected with the Prison Pet Partnership organization.

In addition to service dog training, Prison Pet Partnership (PPP) provides vocational education skills to incarcerated women and transition assistance including resume writing, interview prep, and job placement support. Like the Rotary, PPP also provides scholarships to former offenders for continued education.
