Glitch tied to Community Corrections walk-off uptick |

A computer glitch may have been at least partly to blame to for a noted increase in the number of convicts who walked away from the Larimer County halfway house last year. Gary Darling, director of Larimer County Criminal Justice Services, said a glitch was informing offenders they had failed a drug or alcohol test the same time as their supervisor. That could give offenders an incentive to walk away from the program. The bug was fixed the same day it was discovered in November 2014, Darling said. The residential program houses a variety of felony offenders, some finishing jail or prison sentences and others working to transition back into society. An average of 5.6 Larimer County Community Corrections residents walked away from the facility each month through November 2014, the most recent month available. Read More. |
