No suspects charged in deaths of 2 inmates in 2013

Deb Dodson remembers talking with her son, Michael, about the other inmates who were killed at Toledo Correctional Institution. The Bettsville, Ohio, woman knew that her son had been assaulted in the prison at least twice, but nothing could have prepared her for the phone call she received on Oct. 6, 2013. Michael had been beaten nearly to death by his cellmate inside their locked cell. The following day, after his organs were harvested for donation and life-support systems were disconnected, Michael Dodson, 38, became the fourth inmate to lose his life to violence inside Toledo Correctional in a little more than a year. “Mike and I had talked about those other ones never thinking that could happen to him,” said Mrs. Dodson, a soft-spoken woman who retired in January after 28 years with Terra Community College in Fremont.
