Community opens arms to law enforcement |

POCATELLO — It was a poignant moment of silence called by Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen Wednesday night as the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce held its annual Law Enforcement Appreciation banquet. It was to honor all fallen law enforcement officers and military men and women, but Nielsen noted the loss of Coeur d’Alene policeman Sgt. Greg Moore, who died of a gunshot wound earlier this month. “It’s significant because we lost one of our own,” Nielsen told the crowd. For the past four years, the Pocatello law firm of Ruchti & Beck has been the main sponsor of the law enforcement event. Departments attending the banquet held inside the ballroom at Idaho State University’s Student Union included Bannock County, cities of Chubbuck and Pocatello, Idaho State Police, Idaho Fish and Game, ISU Public Safety, and the Idaho Department of Corrections and Parole.
