| More time needed to address state's prison problems |

It was a frightening scene Sunday at the state prison in Tecumseh as inmates took control of two of the four housing units. Several staff members barricaded themselves inside of offices and had to be rescued by special teams. When the smoke had cleared and guards had retaken control, two inmates were found dead and four other prisoners and two staff members were injured. It was a harrowing day. However, few people could say it was unexpected.
