California prisons working to conserve water |

State prison inmates have to watch their water use just like the rest of us. All 34 state prisons are trying to conserve water. That includes regulating how often toilets are flushed, limiting inmate showers to three times a week and other water-saving steps. So-called "drought managers" are monitoring water usage at each prison to meet the governor's conservation goals. "What we've learned is that we have actually saved about 1 and half billion gallons of water each year for the last four years," Bill Sessa, with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said.
