Enfield inmates help train dogs for veterans

Beyond the barbed wire and heavy security, there was a special ceremony taking place inside of the Enfield Correctional Institution on Thursday evening - the first graduation of a prison puppy program, which launched less than one year ago.

Connecticut's Department of Corrections teamed up with America's VetDogs program to provide disabled veterans specially trained dogs that help return their dignity and freedom.

Sam the black lab became America's VetDogs first Enfield Correctional prison puppy graduate on Thursday.

The inmate handlers were also awarded certificates for teaching Sam the basic skills needed for his final round of training.
