Lawmaker's proposal would cap Medicaid and corrections state funding |

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Department of Corrections and state Medicaid agencies receive the lion’s share of the state’s General Fund budget each year. And the number, especially for Medicaid, has grown in recent years. Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, R-Anniston, on Thursday filed a bill that could cap the two agencies’ appropriations. Athlete of the Year Ticket Info 2015 Senate Bill 476 proposes a constitutional amendment, which would have to be approved by voters, that would limit Medicaid to 10 percent of the total appropriations from lawmakers in the General Fund and education budgets.
