Mayor ignores request for corrections board funding |

The city's Board of Correction would not receive a recommended increase in its expense budget, under the executive financial plan proposed by Mayor Bill de Blasio earlier this month. De Blasio's budget allocation for the board, which oversees the Department of Correction, falls more than half a million dollars short of an increase requested by the City Council to fund more investigators and staff. In its budget response last month, the Council asked to increase the board’s $1.7 million budget by $678,310 in order “to add nine field representatives and one computer programmer analyst.” Read More. |
