Tecumseh State Correctional Institution Remains On Lockdown |

Almost two weeks after deadly riots tore through a Nebraska state prison, the facility remains on lockdown but some restrictions are being eased. The Nebraska Department of Corrections told WOWT 6 News Thursday one of the housing units that was damaged in the riots, 2B, has been cleaned up and is now filled with inmates. Prison staff members continue to go through that unit and unit 3 to do fire checks and supervise showers and phone calls. Repairs are being made to glass doors that were damaged during the riot. Contractors will be brought in to install new glass in several areas. Staff members are still conducting 12-hour shifts five days per week. Inmates get three meals a day and medication is dispensed inside each housing unit. Sick calls will be conducted on an as-needed basis, and medical staff conduct daily rounds for inmates.
